Using PLS Path Modeling for Assessing Hierarchial Construct Models: Guidelines and Impirical Illustration

چکیده
In this paper, the authors show that PLS path modeling can be used to assess a hierarchical construct model. They provide guidelines outlining four key steps to construct a hierCarol Saunders was the accepting senior editor for this paper. archical construct model using PLS path modeling. This approach is illustrated empirically using a reflective, fourthorder latent variable model of online experiential value in the context of online book and CD retailing. Moreover, the guidelines for the use of PLS path modeling to estimate parameters in a hierarchical construct model are extended beyond the scope of the empirical illustration. The findings of the empirical illustration are used to discuss the use of covariance-based SEM versus PLS path modeling. The authors conclude with the limitations of their study and suggestions for future research.

Consistent Partial Least Squares Path Modeling
This paper resumes the discussion in information systems research on the use of partial least squares (PLS) path modeling and shows that the inconsistency of PLS path coefficient estimates in the case of reflective measurement can have adverse consequences for hypothesis testing. To remedy this, the study introduces a vital extension of PLS: consistent PLS (PLSc). PLSc provides a correction for...
متن کاملHow to Address Endogeneity in Partial Least Squares Path Modeling
Some of the models using partial least squares (PLS) in Information Systems (IS) field may have serious problems because do not properly address endogeneity. This may suppose a problem in IS theory building because it may lead IS scholars to non-correct results. Although the IS community’s awareness is rising, we do not have a clear understanding of the problem nor fine-grained practical guidel...
متن کاملUsing PLS path modeling in new technology research: updated guidelines
Purpose – Partial least squares (PLS) path modeling is a variance-based structural equation modeling (SEM) technique that is widely applied in business and social sciences. Its ability to model composites and factors makes it a formidable statistical tool for new technology research. Recent reviews, discussions, and developments have led to substantial changes in the understanding and use of PL...
متن کاملStructural Equation Modeling (SEM) Using PLS-Graph Software: A Tool for Quantitative Researchers Analyzing Path-Based Models
This proposed tutorial, relating to the topic of quantitative research methods, will demonstrate how to use the basic and more advanced features of PLS-Graph software in the analysis of path-based Structural Equation Models (SEM) using latent variable constructs. Instructions for obtaining the PLS-Graph software (beta version 3 build 1126) will be provided to tutorial participants. PLS-Graph ma...
متن کاملStructural Equation Modeling (SEM) Using SmartPLS Software: Analyzing Path Models Using Partial Least Squares (PLS) Based SEM
This ‘hands-on’ workshop will demonstrate how to obtain and use sophisticated, but (currently) free, visual software for assessing the measurement and structural model characteristics of path-based SEM quantitative models using a partial least squares (PLS) approach. The workshop will be presented as a teaching aid for faculty, doctoral students, and for other researchers who are engaged in SEM...
